    Abstract: Nowadays, environmental awareness and an increasing concern with the greenhouse effect have increased the interest in composite materials containing at least one of the components from natural origin. Natural clays seem to be a good alternative because they are environmentally acceptable, naturally abundant minerals, and due to their ability to intercalate and exfoliate in the polymer matrix led to an improvement in mechanical, thermal and barrier properties, compared to the neat polymer. This work presents an investigation of the effects of incorporation of two different clays on mechanical and thermal properties of polypropylene (PP) matrix. PP with 1.5–3.0 wt% of the Cloisite® (commercial clay), and light green clay (noncommercial Brazilian clay), was prepared by melt extrusion process. The neat PP and its nanocomposites were characterized by mechanical tests, SEM, DSC, TGA and XRD analyses. In addition, clay characterization by XRD has also been carried out.

    Abstract: Nowadays significant advances have been made in the development of biodegradable polymeric materials for biomedical applications. The purpose of this study was to preparation and characterization of biodegradable polymer blend reinforced with bio-hydroxyapatite nanoparticle from eggshell by sonochemical method. Biodegradable polymer blends based on PLA (Poly(lactic acid)) and the PBAT (butylene adipate-co-terepthalate)) reinforced with 1-5 wt. % of bio-hydroxyapatite were prepared by melt extrusion, using a twin screw extruder and injection molding machine to obtain specimen test. The effects of the bio-hydroxyapatite addition on properties of PLA/PBAT biodegradable blend were investigated by tensile tests, XRD, DSC, TG and SEM-FEG analysis and the correlation between the results was discussed.

    Abstract: The effects of organic fertilizer, rice husk ash, both from renewable resources, were evaluated. Both of them were incorporated in biodegradable black mulch films. Morphological, mechanical and thermal properties based on PBAT/PLA composites with 2 % wt. of carbon black were investigated. In addition, the formulations were prepared with 1 % wt. to 2 % wt. rice husk ash and 2 % wt. to 4 % wt. % organic fertilizer The samples were produced by melt extrusion process, using a twin screw extruder machine and blown film extrusion process. As can be seen the properties of biodegradable mulch film samples were investigated by tensile tests, XRD, FTIR, TG, MEV analyses. Correlation between properties were discussed. According to the results it is possible to apply this composite as film for agricultural protection.

    Abstract: The objective of this study is to compare the effects of the addition of cellulose nanowhiskers and microcrystalline cellulose on properties of flexible films based on biodegradablepolymer blends. Composite films containing 1 wt. % of microcrystalline cellulose and 1-2 wt.% of cellulose nanowhiskers were prepared by melt extrusion, using a twin screw extruder machine and blown extrusion process. The effects of the addition of cellulose nanowhiskers and microcrystalline cellulose on mechanical and thermal properties of biocomposite films were investigated by tensile tests, XRD, TG, DSC and FE-SEM analysis and the correlation between properties was discussed.

    Abstract: In recent years, carbonaceous materials have been widely studied for polymer composite applications due to its capability to improve the engineering properties of the polymeric matrix. Among various carbonaceous fillers, carbon nanotube, graphene, and graphite promise to be a suitable reinforcement of polymers. Rice husk ash (RHA), a large residue rich in carbon and silica produced by the burning of rice husk offers also an immense potential as a carbonaceous filler for polymer composites on account of its lowcost, lowdensity, high strength and elastic modulus, no health risks, and renewability. This work aims at studying the effects of RHA and graphite as fillers in polypropylene (PP) matrix composites. The composites PP/RHA and PP/graphite were produced by melting extrusion process. The materials obtained were subjected to mechanical tests, XRD, TG, and FEG-SEM analyses. Comparison studies between neat PP properties and its composites were carried out.

    Abstract: This work evaluates changes in morphological, mechanical and thermo-mechanical properties of electron-beam irradiated HDPE/nanoclay and HDPE/Piassava fiber/nanoclay. Material samples irradiated with 100 and 200 kGy using a 1.5 MeV electron beam accelerator (room temperature, presence of air) were submitted to tensile, flexural, and HDT tests. MFI, SEM and XRD analyses were carried out. Correlation between properties was discussed. Results showed that incorporation of piassava (Attalea funifera Mart) fiber and nanoclay, followed by irradiation represented significant gain in thermo-mechanical properties. Changes in surface morphology and reduction in MFI were observed. In conclusion, it may be claimed that the incorporation of piassava fiber in small size particles and nanoclay in the HDPE followed by electron-beam irradiation effectively improved the polymer properties and led to materials with superior properties suitable for several industrial applications.

    Abstract: Nowadays, significant advances have been made in the development of biodegradable polymeric materials for biomedical applications. This study aims to prepare and characterize composite materials based on PLA/PBAT, a biodegradable polymer blend, reinforced with bio-hydroxyapatite (bio-HAp). First, bio-HAp was obtained from eggshell residues by the wet precipitation method. PLA/PBAT blend with 1.5 wt% of bio-HAp was prepared by melt extrusion and injection molding process. Part of composite samples was irradiated with gamma radiation dose of 25 kGy, at room temperature and presence of air. The effects of the bio-HAp addition into the biodegradable blend were investigated by mechanical tests, XRD, DSC, FESEM, and cytotoxicity “in vitro” analysis and the correlation between the properties was discussed. In addition, the microbiological tests were carried out at irradiated and non-irradiated composite samples in order to evaluate the efficiency of the radiation dose of 25 kGy at composite materials sterilization.

    Abstract: Agricultural residues such as sugarcane bagasse, soy husk, rice husk, cornstalks, and corncob represent a potentially valuable source of fiber that could be used as a reinforcement in polymer for several applications. Corncob a sub products of corn agroindustry is generated in large quantities in Brazil. The traditional use of this residue in Brazil includes bedding for animals and livestock feeding. However, a large amount of corn sub products is unutilized, is burning or left in the field. An alternative use for corncob would be to produce particleboard panels in association with a polymer material. Thereby, this composite can be a cheap alternative to construction and a possible way to decrease the amount of waste from landfill. The objective of this work is to study the potential use of corncob as fiber reinforcements for thermoplastics as an alternative to wood fibers. In this work, HDPE/EVA blend reinforced with corncob fiber (20 wt. %) and zinc oxide nanoparticles (1 wt. %) was prepared by melt-mixing processing, using a twin screw extruder machine, with 16 mm and L/D = 25 rate. The temperature profile was 160/ 160/ 165/ 170/ 175/ 180 ºC. Screw speed was 60 rpm. The extrudates were cooled down for a better dimensional stability, pelletized, dried again at 60 ± 2 ºC for 4 h and fed into injection molding machine and specimens test samples were obtained. Part of samples were irradiated at 100 and 200 kGy using an electron beam accelerator, at room temperature in presence of air. The irradiated and non-irradiated samples were characterized by mechanical tests, XRD, TG, DSC, FE-SEM analysis and the correlation between properties was discussed. In addition, the sol–gel analysis were carried out in the non-irradiated and irradiated samples in order to evaluate the degree of cross-linking in the HDPE/EVA blend as a result of electron-beam irradiation. The non-irradiated HDPE/EVA blend dissolved completely in the xylene. On the other hand, the irradiated HDPE/EVA lost only small part of its original weight dissolved in the organic solvent. Consequently, these results indicate that a large part of the material was cross-linked and insoluble in hot xylene. The mechanical test results of the irradiated samples showed superior mechanical performance than non-irradiated sample and better interface adhesion between corncob fiber and polymer matrix. These results confirm that the addition of corncob fiber and zinc oxide nanoparticle improved the original characteristics of HDPE/EVA blend and led to the obtaining of ecologic particleboard and interior design for application in home construction for low-income people.

    Abstract: Se estudió los efectos morfológicos y térmicos de los filmes de EVOH reforzados con 0.1 y 0.5 wt. % de GO. El EVOH ha sido ampliamente usado en embalajes para alimentos porque preserva la calidad de los productos debido a su excelente desempeño de barrera de gas y su buena transparencia. El GO fue preparado vía oxidación química del grafito y fue exfoliado en nanoláminas usando el método sonoquímico. Los filmes fueron preparados por extrusión en estado fundido y extrusión por soplado, luego fueron caracterizados por análisis de XRD, TG y SEM, la correlación entre sus propiedades fue discutida.

    Abstract: The Ti-6Al-4V alloy is widely used in the manufacture of components that should have low density, high corrosion resistance, and fatigue strength. The fatigue strength can be improved by surface modification. The aim of this study was to determine the influence of plasma nitriding on the fatigue behavior of Ti-6Al-4V alloy with a lamellar microstructure (Widmanstätten type). Nitriding was executed at 720 °C for 4 hours in an atmosphere with N2, Ar and H2. Samples microstructure characterization was carried out by X-ray diffraction analysis, optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. The average roughness of the specimens was determined, and fatigue tests were executed in a bending-rotating machine with reverse tension cycles (R= -1). X-ray diffraction analysis revealed the matrix phases α and β, and the phases Ɛ-Ti2N and δ-TiN in the nitrided alloy. A nitrogen diffusion layer was formed between the substrate and the titanium nitrides. Plasma nitriding resulted in an increase in low cycle fatigue strength, whereas at high cycles, both conditions exhibit similar behavior. The fracture surface of the fatigue tested specimens clearly revealed the lamellar microstructure. The fracture mechanism appears to be due to cracking at the interface of α and β phases of the lamellar microstructure.

    Abstract: Due to the remarkable properties of graphene oxide (GO) and its possibility of functionalization,GOhas been used in many applications such as nanocomposites. GO nanosheets have been shown to improve the properties of the polypropylene (PP) matrix, for instance, its strength, gas barrier, thermal, and electrical conductivity. As PP has relatively low cost and varied applications, this work aims to study the changes in its thermal, morphological, and mechanical properties, due to the incorporation of GO in the PP matrix. GO was synthesized from graphite by a modified Hummers method. The nanocomposites PP/GO with 0.1, 0.2, and 0.3 wt% of GO in the PP matrix were obtained using a twin-screw extruder and an injection molding machine via a melt blending process. The nanocomposites PP/GO were characterized by FE-SEM and Izod impact test. In addition, the GO nanosheets were also characterized by Raman spectroscopy, ATR-FTIR, FE-SEM, and XRD, therewith correlation between properties was discussed.

    Abstract: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the influence of incorporation of the reduced graphene oxide on properties of acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS). The incorporation of 0.5 and 1.5 wt% of RGO into ABS matrix was carried out by melting extrusion process using a twin-screw extruder and injection molding machine. The properties of ABS/RGO nanocomposite samples were investigated by tensile and impact Izod tests, FE-SEM, and XRD analysis. The results showed that the incorporation of small amount of RGO into ABS matrix led to obtaining of polymeric nanocomposite with superior mechanical properties when compared with original properties of ABS matrix.

A pesquisa apresentará melhor resultado selecionando um dos filtros disponíveis em Navegar

Os filtros disponíveis em Navegar tais como: Coleções, Ano de publicação, Títulos, Assuntos, Autores, Revista, Tipo de publicação são autoexplicativos. O filtro, Autores IPEN apresenta uma relação com os autores vinculados ao IPEN; o ID Autor IPEN diz respeito ao número único de identificação de cada autor constante no RD e sob o qual estão agrupados todos os seus trabalhos independente das variáveis do seu nome; Tipo de acesso diz respeito à acessibilidade do documento, isto é , sujeito as leis de direitos autorais, ID RT apresenta a relação dos relatórios técnicos, restritos para consulta das comunidades indicadas.

A opção Busca avançada utiliza os conectores da lógica boleana, é o melhor recurso para combinar chaves de busca e obter documentos relevantes à sua pesquisa, utilize os filtros apresentados na caixa de seleção para refinar o resultado de busca. Pode-se adicionar vários filtros a uma mesma busca.

Para indexação dos documentos é utilizado o Thesaurus do INIS, especializado na área nuclear e utilizado em todos os países membros da International Atomic Energy Agency – IAEA , por esse motivo, utilize os termos de busca de assunto em inglês; isto não exclui a busca livre por palavras, apenas o resultado pode não ser tão relevante ou pertinente.

95% do RD apresenta o texto completo do documento com livre acesso, para aqueles que apresentam o significa que e o documento está sujeito as leis de direitos autorais, solicita-se nesses casos contatar a Biblioteca do IPEN, bibl@ipen.br .

Ao efetuar a busca por um autor o RD apresentará uma relação de todos os trabalhos depositados no RD. No lado direito da tela são apresentados os coautores com o número de trabalhos produzidos em conjunto bem como os assuntos abordados e os respectivos anos de publicação agrupados.

O RD disponibiliza um quadro estatístico de produtividade, onde é possível visualizar o número dos trabalhos agrupados por tipo de coleção, a medida que estão sendo depositados no RD.

Na página inicial nas referências são sinalizados todos os autores IPEN, ao clicar nesse símbolo será aberta uma nova página correspondente à aquele autor – trata-se da página do pesquisador.

Na página do pesquisador, é possível verificar, as variações do nome, a relação de todos os trabalhos com texto completo bem como um quadro resumo numérico; há links para o Currículo Lattes e o Google Acadêmico ( quando esse for informado).

Nesta primeira etapa de funcionamento do RI, a coleta das publicações é realizada periodicamente pela equipe da Biblioteca do IPEN, extraindo os dados das bases internacionais tais como a Web of Science, Scopus, INIS, SciElo além de verificar o Currículo Lattes. O RI-IPEN apresenta também um aspecto inovador no seu funcionamento. Por meio de metadados específicos ele está vinculado ao sistema de gerenciamento das atividades do Plano Diretor anual do IPEN (SIGEPI). Com o objetivo de fornecer dados numéricos para a elaboração dos indicadores da Produção Cientifica Institucional, disponibiliza uma tabela estatística registrando em tempo real a inserção de novos itens. Foi criado um metadado que contém um número único para cada integrante da comunidade científica do IPEN. Esse metadado se transformou em um filtro que ao ser acionado apresenta todos os trabalhos de um determinado autor independente das variáveis na forma de citação do seu nome.

O Repositório Digital do IPEN é um equipamento institucional de acesso aberto, criado com o objetivo de reunir, preservar, disponibilizar e conferir maior visibilidade à Produção Científica publicada pelo Instituto, desde sua criação em 1956.
