dc.description.abstractThoron concentration assessment was carried out in the most visited caves of the natural state park PETAR, “Parque Estadual do Alto Ribeira”, by using Makrofol E nuclear track detectors placed in twin chambers. PETAR, a natural park, was created in 1958 and is located in the southern region of São Paulo State, Brazil. Detectors were placed in the caves most visited by tourists. Committed effective doses due to thoron inhalation were evaluated for the tour guides of the PETAR caves, giving results between 0.07 mSv-y* and 0.22 mSv.y™.
