    Caracterización química de cerámicas del sitio Hatahara, Amazonia - Brasil

    En este trabajo se determinaron las concentraciones de As, Ba, Ce, Co, Cr, Cs, Eu, Fe, Hf, K, La, Lu, Na, Nd, Sb, Sm, U e Yb, Rb, Se, Ta, Tb, Th y Zn por medio del método de análisis por Activación Neutrónica Instrumental, AANI, en 127 muestras de cerámicas del sitio arqueológico Hatahara. El sitio se localiza en el município de lranduba, estado del Amazonas, Brasil. Los resultados de las concentraciones elementa­les fueron interpretados por media de análisis de agrupamiento y discriminante. Los estudios mostraron la existencia de tres grupos de cerámicas, que confirman las tres fases culturales distintas de ocupación, llamadas de Manacapuru, Paredón y Guarita.

    The utilization of trace chemical composition to correlate ceramics with clay deposits

    In this work, 22 clay samples near Hatahara and Açutuba archaeological sites, and 135 ceramic samples were analyzed by means of Instrumental Neutron Activation Analysis. INAA is the most suitable technique because it does not require mineralization of samples and has high sensitivity, accuracy and precision. The samples were irradiated in IEA-R1 reactor at IPEN-CNEN-SP at thermal neutron flux of 8,92x10 12 cm -2 s -1 during one hour. The elementary concentration results were studied using multivariate statistical methods. The compositions group classification was done through cluster analysis and the similarity/dissimilarity among the samples was studied by means of discriminant analysis.

    Spatial distribution of metal contents in soil

    Soil samples were collected in two small agricultural fields located in Médanos and Hilario Ascasubi, Bahía Blanca, Argentina and analyzed for Ce, Co, Cr, Cs, Eu, Fe, Hf, K, La, Na, Rb, Sc, Th, U, Yb, and Zn by INAA to study the spatial distribution. This agricultural area is used for garlic cultivation. The soil samples and the standards were irradiated in the swimming pool research reactor at IPEN-CNEN/SP, Brazil. The data sets were studied using several statistical methods. In order to evaluate the contribution of anthropogenic sources in the soil, enrichment factors were calculated. The similarity/dissimilarity between the samples was studied by discriminant analysis in order to explore the feasibility of classifying soils samples according to geographic position. In addition, to identify redundant variable without losing essential information, the data set was studied by means of stopping rule for variable selection using forward stepwise discriminant analysis.
