dc.description.abstractTitanium is commonly used in the manufacture of orthopedic and dental implants due to its high corrosion resistance and good mechanical properties. However because of its grey color, the implant becomes visible due to transparency of peri-implant tissues in patients with thin gingival biotype. In this work, hydroxyapatite obtained by chemical precipitation method (Hap-S) was coated on titanium substrate by electrophoretic deposition technique, to improve implant integration in the organism and change their color. Hap-S powders were characterized by XRD, FTIR and SEM. The EPD was performed in dental grade titanium substrate with 10x10mm in dimension, at 80V, 60V and 40V for 40s, 60s and 120s. After, the coatings were dried at room temperature and sintered at 800°C for 1h. The samples were characterized by XRD and SEM. Results showed that deposition is more effective for shorter times and intermediate voltage, yielding homogeneous and crack free deposits.pt_BR
